Press conference reviews socio-economic development in six months
(BNP) – On June 29, the Provincial People’s Committee held a press conference to review socio-economic situation and publish statistics in the first 6 months of 2020. Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Huu Thanh chaired the press conference.

In the first 6 months, the complicated Covid-19 pandemic has profoundly affected economic sectors as well as social life. From the beginning of the year, the whole political system has drastically and timely taken synchronous measures to fight against epidemics, while ensuring socio-economic development and social security. Enterprises have actively approached and expanded market share in the world, so Bac Ninh’s import-export turnover has increased. In particular, total export turnover was estimated at USD 14,885.5 million, up 6.7% compared with same period; total import turnover was estimated at USD 12,887.3 million, up 5.1%.
State budget revenue was estimated at VND 14,565 billion or 49.7% of the yearly estimate, 4.1% over the same period. 97 FDI projects are granted investment certificates with total investment capital of USD 183.1 million. The province’s total development investment capital of was VND 33,703.2 billion, up 3.9% over the same period.
The new rural construction program has been accelerated with the adoption of new rural commune model. 94/94 communes meet the new rural standards at an increase of 01 commune compared to 2019; and 07 district levels meet new rural district criteria.
The administrative reform has been strengthened efficiently. Provincial competitiveness index ranked fourth nationwide; public administration reform index ranked 18th; Readiness index for application and development information and communications technology ranked 6th, making it back to the top 10 highest provinces in the country. Culture, education and health sectors also develops. Bac Ninh ranked first in terms of prize quality, and second in the percentage of winning prizes compared to other provinces in the Red River Delta in the National excellent student competition. All propaganda plans and activities to celebrate the Party Congress at all levels. Social security and welfare has been always attached greater importance than in the whole country.

The Vice Chairman hoped the central and local news agencies to continue propagating and spreading the examples in socio-economic development as well as encouraging all economic sectors to overcome difficulties, thus contributing to achieve the target of 5.4%.
