Administrative boundaries
Bac Ninh lies in the Northern gateway to Hanoi capital, in the economic growth triangle Hanoi, Hai Phong and Quang Ninh. The North borders Bac Giang province, the West and Southwest borders Hanoi capital, the South borders Hung Yen province, the East borders Hai Duong province. The total natural land area is 822.7 km2. The province has 8 administrative units including:
1. Bac Ninh City
Bac Ninh City is located in the South of Cau River, in the Northeast of the province. It is 30 km away from Ha Noi capital center. The City area is 82.6 km2. It has 19 administrative units of 19 wards. Locations adjacent to the following localities:
The North borders Bac Giang province;
The South borders Tien Du district, Que Vo district;
The East borders Que Vo district;
The West borders Tien Du district and Yen Phong district.
2. Tu Son City
Tu Son City lies in the West of the province with an area of 61.3 km2. It has 12 administrative units including wards and communes. Locations adjacent to the following localities:
The North borders Yen Phong district;
The South borders Gia Lam district (Hanoi);
The East borders Tien Du district;
The West borders Dong Anh district (Hanoi City).
3.Tien Du district
Tien Du district lies in the Southwest of Bac Ninh province, 5 km away from Bac Ninh province center, 25 km away from Hanoi capital. The natural area is 95.6 km2. It has 14 administrative units, among which, there are 01 township and 13 communes. Locations adjacent to the following localities:
The North borders Bac Ninh City and Yen Phong district;
The South borders Thuan Thanh district;
The East borders Que Vo district;
The West borders Tu Son City.
4. Yen Phong district:
Yen Phong is a plain district and lies in the West of Bac Ninh province. The area is 96.9 km2. It has 14 administrative units including 01 township and 13 communes. Locations adjacent to the following localities:
The North borders Hiep Hoa and Viet Yen districts (Bac Giang province);
The South borders Dong Anh district (Hanoi City), Tu Son City, Tien Du district (Bac Ninh province);
The East borders Bac Ninh City;
The West borders Dong Anh and Soc Son districts (Hanoi City).
5. Que Vo district:
Que Vo district lies in the East of Bac Ninh province, the district’s is 10km away from Bac Ninh City, 40 km away from Hanoi capital. The area of the district is 155.1 km2. It has 21 administrative units including 01 town and 20 communes. Locations adjacent to the following localities:
The North borders Yen Dung district and Viet Yen district (Bac Giang province);
The South borders Gia Binh district;
The East borders Chi Linh district (Hai Duong province);
The West borders Tien Du district and Bac Ninh City.
6. Thuan Thanh district:
Thuan Thanh district lies in the South of Duong river, Bac Ninh province, with an area of 117.8 km2
and a population of 163,790 people. It has 18 administrative units including 01 town and 17 communes. Locations adjacent to the following localities:
The North borders Tien Du and Que Vo districts;
The South borders Van Lam district (Hung Yen province);
The East borders Gia Binh and Luong Tai districts;
The West borders Gia Lam district (Hanoi City).
7. Gia Binh district:
Gia Binh district lies in the Northern Delta region, 25 km away from the center of Bac Ninh City, 35 km away from Hanoi capital. The area is 107.6 km2. It has 14 administrative units including 1 township and 13 communes. Locations adjacent to the following localities:
Que Vo district in the North;
Luong Tai district to the South;
The East borders Hai Duong province;
The West borders Thuan Thanh district.
8. Luong Tai district:
Luong Tai is a low-lying district of Bac Ninh province, about 30 km away from the provincial capital. The area is 105.9 km2. It has 14 administrative units including 01 township and 13 communes. Locations adjacent to the following localities:
The North border Gia Binh district;
The South borders Cam Giang district (Hai Duong province);
