"Display space recreating Dong Ho painting market" opens
(BNP) - On the morning of April 21, at the Dong Ho Folk Painting Conservation Center, Song Ho Ward, Thuan Thanh Town, Provincial Center for Relic Conservation and Tourism Promotion (Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism) held the opening ceremony of "Display space recreating Dong Ho painting market".
Delegates cut the ribbon to open the "Display space recreating Dong Ho painting market".
Attending the program were representatives from the Department of Cultural Heritage (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism); leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Thuan Thanh town; Provincial Tourism Association and some travel agencies.
Dong Ho painting, full name is Dong Ho folk woodcut painting, a line of Vietnamese folk paintings originating from Dong Ho village (Tu Khe area, Song Ho ward, Thuan Thanh town, Bac Ninh province). Dong Ho paintings are mostly purchased during the Lunar New Year, also known as Tet paintings.
The Tet painting market in the past often took place at Dong Ho communal house, on the 6th, 11th, 16th, 21st and 26th of lunar December every year.
At the end of the market, the remaining paintings were packaged and put onto the boat, bringing the cultural beauty of the Kinh Bac region to many localities. However, since 1945, Dong Ho painting market has been vanish, leaving behind many memories for local people and the people of Bac Ninh...
From April 21 - 23, the Provincial Center for Relic Conservation and Tourism Promotion organized "Display space recreating Dong Ho painting market" with 20 booths introducing painting craft, materials, production process and typical products of Dong Ho painting village.
Coming to the Dong Ho painting market, people and tourists can immerse themselves in the space of Kinh Bac countryside with traditional products of their homeland as well as experience Bac Ninh’s countryside products and performance activities inspired by Dong Ho paintings by young people from Hoa Gam Co., Ltd. to feel the vitality of Dong Ho folk paintings.
After cutting the opening ribbon, delegates visited the booths and experienced making Dong Ho folk paintings.
