10th National Phu Dong Sports Festival 2024 opens in Hai Phong city
(BNP) - On the evening of July 28, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the People's Committee of Hai Phong city jointly organized the opening ceremony of the 10th National Phu Dong Sports Festival in 2024 in Hai Phong city.

The 10th National Phu Dong Sports Festival in 2024 will be organized in 2 phases. Phase I, the regional round, will take place from April 20 to June 20, 2024 in 5 provinces and cities. Phase II, the national round, will take place from July 25 to August 6, 2024 in Hai Phong. This year's Festival has 8,919 athletes from 63 provinces and cities nationwide participating. Bac Ninh province has 151 athletes competing in 11 sports.
Athletes will compete for 217 sets of medals in 15 sports: Swimming, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Soccer, Basketball, Badminton, Chess, Shuttlecock, Athletics, Karate, Tug of War, Taekwondo, Aerobics, Vovinam, Traditional Martial Arts.
This is an opportunity for students to exchange, learn, share experiences and raise awareness about sports training, physical development, spread messages to schools, families, and the community to join hands for the mission of improving the physical fitness and stature of Vietnamese people.
On the morning of July 27, the traditional torch lighting was lit from Giong Temple in Soc Son (Ha Noi) and carried back by representatives from the Steering Committee and Organizing Committee of the Festival. It had the participation of 10 athletes representing the athletes participating in the Festival.
The traditional torch lighting was carried to the Temple of Nguyen Binh Khiem (Vinh Bao district, Hai Phong) to Nghe Temple (Le Chan district, Hai Phong) and then to Lach Tray Stadium (Ngo Quyen district, Hai Phong) on the evening of July 28 of the Opening Ceremony of the 10th National Phu Dong Sports Festival to light the torch of the Festival.
The Festival will close on August 6.
Regarding rewards, the Ministry of Education and Training will award Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals along with certificates of achievement to individuals and teams achieving First, Second, and Third place according to the Regulations of each content; award First, Second, and Third place flags and prizes for each subject in the region and nationwide (calculated according to the scores of the content in the region and nationwide).
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will award flags to 10 units ranked from 01 to 10 (according to the total medal results of the units achieved at the Festival).
