5th National middle and old aged Chinese chess tournament opens

(BNP) – In the morning of October 4th, Vietnam Central Association of Elderly (VAE) in coordination with the Provincial People’s Committee held an opening ceremony of the 5th National middle and old aged Chinese chess tournament in 2018 at Kinh Bac Cultural Center.

Provincial leaders of VAE and Bac Ninh province give souvenir flag to teams participating in the Tournament.

The 5th National middle and old aged Chinese chess tournament is a mass sports award to encourage and spread the practice of Chinese chess in the elderly class. This is also a practical activity to take care of spiritual life for the elderly.

The Tournament this year attracted 21 teams from provinces and cities such as Ha Noi, Hoa Binh, Dien Bien, Cao Bang, Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen, Vinh Phuc, Hung Yen, Bac Ninh, Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Quang Ninh, Nghe An, Da Nang city, Ho Chi Minh city, Ba Ria – Vung Tau and Can Tho city. The athletes competed in four categories into men's individual, women's individual, men’s team and women’s team for 4 age groups including 40-49; 50 - 59; 60 - 69; and ≥ 70 years. Bac Ninh province sent two teams with 30 athletes to participate in all categories.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Phong warmly welcomed the athlete’s delegation to take part in the 5th National middle and old aged Chinese chess tournament in 2018. He stressed that Bac Ninh always paid attention in the work of social security, especially care for the elderly.

Besides, the province organized many national and international sports. This year, Quan Ho homeland is honored to host and organize the 5th National middle and old aged Chinese chess tournament in 2018 on the occasion of the 28th International Day of Elderly. This is an opportunity for elderly in the province learning and sharing experiences in the development of sport and physical movement in general and Chinese chess in particular.

According to the plan, the tournament will take place in 2 days (from October 4th to 5th, 2018).
