Bac Ninh ranks second at National Men's and Women's Boxing Championships 2020

(BNP) - From December 3 to December 10, the National Men's and Women's Boxing Championship in 2020 was held at Gymnasiums of Bac Ninh University of Sports.

The tournament attracted 150 boxers from 33 provinces, cities and sectors across the country. The boxers competed in 11 men's weight categories (from 44 kg to over 91 kg) and 11 women's weight categories (from 42 kg to over 81 kg) with 22 medals.

Bac Ninh Boxing Team attended the tournament with 8 boxers (competing in 8 weight categories), won 7 medals (3 gold medals, 1 silver medal, 3 bronze medals), and ranked second after the Army team; Da Nang team ranked third. Among which, 3 gold medals of Bac Ninh team belonged to boxers Vuong Thi Vy (57kg), Nguyen Van Duong (56kg) and Nguyen Manh Cuong (91kg). Boxer Pham Duc Doan won silver medal (60kg); Boxers Nguyen Van Diep (91kg), Nguyen Van Dong (69kg) and Ngo Thi Thuy (45kg) earned bronze medals.

This tournament is held annually to evaluate the work of training in localities and sectors; as the basis for selecting athletes to participate in SEA Games 31. For Bac Ninh province, with winning gold medals, 3 athletes were called up to the National Boxing team to compete at the 31st SEA Games.
