(BNP) - On September 14, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a meeting between Cabinet members and State-owned enterprises (SOE) across the country on the promotion of business and production and development investment. Also attending the meeting were Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang and Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai.

Participants attend the meeting at Bac Ninh’s venue.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Ngo Tan Phuong, leaders of departments, sectors and SOE in the province attended the meeting at Bac Ninh’s venue.

According to a Ministry of Planning and Investment study, the country has nearly 680 SOEs with a total asset value of VND 3.8 quadrillion (USD 157.08 billion), including 1.7 quadrillion VND of State budget. SOEs have significant money, assets, technology, and high-quality human resources, and they play a dominant and leading role in critical industries and fields of the economy. But the enterprises have yet to fulfil their role and mission.

Speaking at the conference's conclusion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked SOEs to optimize development opportunities brought about by the Party Central Committee’s resolution on the renovation and improvement of SOE performance; focus on restructuring, arranging digital transformation in businesses, actively participating in major State projects…

Immediately after the conference, Vice Chairman Ngo Tan Phuong requested the departments, branches and SOEs follow the Prime Minister's directions.

SOEs must identify development plans, industries, business orientation, goods, and markets; innovate in corporate governance; make a plan to restructure the enterprise's finance, capital, and assets; determine a technology improvement plan that is appropriate for the enterprise's capacity and development orientation; protect the lives of officers, employees, and workers; increase the Party's leadership in the enterprises; and promote the role of Party organizations in SOEs, Phuong added.
