Government holds online conference “Developing Vietnam’s tourism quickly and sustainably”

Participants at the conference were Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha; leaders of ministries, branches and central agencies; leaders of large enterprises in the tourism and aviation industry.

According to a report from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in the first 10 months of 2023, the number of international visitors to Vietnam reached more than 9.97 million, exceeding the 2023 plan; domestic visitors reached 98.7 million; total revenue from tourists reached 582.6 trillion VND.
Vietnam tourism received 54 awards at the 2023 Asia Pacific Regional Awards Ceremony of the World Travel Awards, continuing to affirm the brand and position of Vietnam tourism on the tourism map of the world. Tourism products are renewed, increasing their attractiveness and competitiveness. Many new destinations have been invested in the system of technical facilities and infrastructure.

Besides the achieved results, Vietnam’s tourism industry still faces many difficulties and challenges. Speaking at the conference’s conclusion, PM Chinh requested the government office coordinate with relevant ministries and branches to soon complete and advise the Prime Minister to promulgate a directive on tourism development. comprehensive, fast, and sustainable. Ministries and branches from central to local levels are interested in strengthening information technology application solutions to improve electronic visa issuance processes and procedures, mobilize resources, attract investment for tourism development, especially investment in planned tourist areas and destinations, and appropriate connection infrastructure systems and specific tourism products.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the opinions of the delegates. The Prime Minister said that these are enthusiastic and responsible opinions to suggest problems and solutions to develop tourism in the country in the coming time. To develop tourism in the coming time, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh directed that it is necessary to promote the exploitation of the power of the people and the resources of society; promote digital transformation; increase promotion in a smart direction; approach world tourism in a pristine, intact, and environmentally friendly way. In terms of executive direction, it is necessary to improve management efficiency; View tourism development as the task of all sectors and levels and the internal resources of people and businesses. In particular, it is necessary to develop tourism in the direction of protecting the environment, preserving and being consistent with the cultural identity of the Vietnamese people.
For ministries and branches, it is necessary to pay attention and promote the overall planning of the tourism industry, develop traffic infrastructure systems, transportation systems… Localities need to promote their role as leaders, focusing on their work. Training human resources and tourism skills in the direction of innovative thinking, building new models according to the specific characteristics of the local tourism sector, which is increasingly developing according to the new situation, the PM added.
