Green Star CRE Energy Plant officially puts into operation
(BNP) - In the morning of November 1, the opening ceremony of the Green Star CRE Energy Plant (GCEP) took place in Phu Lang commune, Que Vo town. This is the first waste power plant to be completed and put into operation in Bac Ninh.

Participants at the ceremony were Ms. Han Wha-Jin, Korean Minister of Environment; Ms. Nguyen Huong Giang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Dao Quang Khai, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment; the Korean Embassy in Vietnam; and leaders of a number of departments, sectors, and Que Vo town.

The Green Star CRE Energy Plant in Phu Lang commune, Que Vo town is invested by a joint venture of Green Star Environmental Company Limited and Chosun Refractory Engineering Company (Korea) with a total cost of USD 33 million. This is a plant that treats industrial and home waste, with a capacity of 180 tons of garbage per day and night. The capacity of the power plant is 6.1 MW. From July 2020 until August 2022, the plant has conducted test runs and connected to the national power grid via a 35 kV line connected to a 110 kV Que Vo 2 BA Station.

The Plant’s official operation contributes to protecting the province's environment as well as providing about 40 million kWh per year to the locality. At the same time, it will be a bridge to promote comprehensive strategic cooperation between the Vietnam and Korea countries in general and especially environmental projects serving socio-economic development in particular.

On behalf of the provincial leaders, Vice Chairman Dao Quang Khai acknowledged and praised the determination and efforts of the investor in building and putting the plant into official operation.

Khai urged investor to operate the plant in a stable, safe, and effective manner, ensuring that waste sources after treatment fulfill Vietnamese environmental standards; strictly implement the contents of the approved environmental permit and well-perform the payment system for the plant’s workers as well as pay more attention to the social welfare issues in the locality.

He also asked the departments, branches, sectors and Que Vo town to create conditions for the investor to continue operating the plant while assuring environmental pollution treatment and full compliance with legal rules.
