Launch Action Month for Breast Cancer Prevention in 2018

(BNP) – In the morning of October 13th, at medical clinic of Vo Cuong ward (Bac Ninh city), Cancer Patient Support Foundation - Ngay mai tuoi sang (Bright Tomorrow) (Ministry of Health) in collaboration with the Department of Health held a launching ceremony of Action Month for Breast Cancer Prevention in 2018 with the theme "Breast cancer screening as early as age 40".

Attending the launching ceremony were Prof. Ph.D Nguyen Viet Tien, Vice Minister of Health; Associate Professor Ph.D Nguyen Thi Xuyen, former Vice Minister of Health, Chairman of Vietnam Medical Association, Chairman of Cancer Patient Support Foundation - Ngay mai tuoi sang (Bright Tomorrow); Mr. Nguyen Van Phong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of units under the Ministry of Health and relevant departments and branches.

Action Month for Breast Cancer Prevention in 2018 with the theme "Breast cancer screening as early as age 40" is an opportunity for women and the public to raise awareness about this dangerous disease. This is also a practical activity to celebrate the 88th founding anniversary of Vietnam Women's Union (October 20th, 1930 - 2018).

At the launching ceremony, doctors from K Hospital consulted and screened over 200 women of Vo Cuong ward, Bac Ninh city to detect early breast cancer.

On this occasion, Cancer Patient Support Foundation - Ngay mai tuoi sang (Bright Tomorrow) will coordinate with K Hospital to carry out free screening (including clinical examination, breast ultrasound for 100% of women …) for 6,800 women of 40 years and older in Hanoi and 9 provinces in the North and the Middle to detect early breast cancer. At the same time, the Fund also coordinated with Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital to deploy the screening for 1,200 women in the city as well as organize propaganda with an aim to raising the knowledge of the community on prevention of breast cancer and so on.
