My Xuyen Communal House
(BNP) - My Xuyen communal house, My Huong commune, Luong Tai district, is a long-standing cultural and religious structure, restored during the Later Le and Nguyen dynasties.
The communal house’s main gate is a pillar-shaped style with 3 entrances.
In the past, My Xuyen communal house had an architecture of Chinese “Tam” letter with a 7-compartment Great Communal Hall, a 3-compartment Middle Hall, a 3-compartment Emperor’s Harem, a well-shaped floor, and wooden planks on both sides. The entire load-bearing structure is made of sturdy ironwood, with sophisticated carvings. In history, My Xuyen communal house was a famous beautiful communal house in Lai Thuong commune. In 1946, during the resistance war against French colonialism, My Xuyen communal house was completely demolished.
In 1953 - 1954, the people built the 3-compartment Emperor’s Harem. In 1955, they built the 3-compartment Middle Hall. In 1956, the people continued to build the 5-compartment Great Communal Hall. In 1970, the roof of the Emperor’s Harem was repaired. In 1971, the Middle Hall was repaired. In 1995, the local people contributed their efforts and money to restore the Great Communal Hall to its current size.

The communal house has an architecture of Chinese “Tam” letter including the main gate, Great Communal Hall, Middle Hall and Emperor’s Harem. Behind the main gate is a large brick-paved yard, on the left in front of the communal house yard is a row of 5 stone steles.

The Great Communal Hall has 5 compartments and 2 wings. It is built in traditional architecture with the sturdy ironwood load-bearing frame.

The Middle Hall has a layout of 3 compartments parallel to the Great Communal Hall in front and the Emperor’s Harem in the back. The Middle Hall is built according to traditional architecture, using traditional materials.

My Xuyen communal house worships the village’s tutelary god, Do Dai Te The.
Typical artifacts preserved at the communal house include 04 “hậu thần bi ký” stele dated 1785, 1816, 1859, 1865; 01 stele with blurred letters erected in 1938...
