Nearly 300 athletes participate in the athletics, karate, and traditional Vietnamese martial arts tournaments
(BNP) – During 3 days, from 18th to 20th August, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held the athletics, karate, and traditional Vietnamese martial arts tournaments, within the framework of the 8th Provincial Sports Festival 2018 taken place, at the Provincial Gymnasium Hall and the 229 Engineer Brigade’s athletics field.

Attending the event were nearly 300 athletes representing 8 districts, towns, and provincial public security. In particular, athletics competition concluded a wide range of categories such as running 100m for men and women, running 200m for men, high jumping for men and women, weighting for men. Karate competed in the following categories: team male, team female kata; Individual male and individual female kata; individual male kumite (44 – 64kg); individual female kumite (44 – 56kg); team male and team female kumite.
Traditional martial arts competed in contents namely men's and women's performance, countervailing in coaching, and countervailing.
The athletics, karate, and traditional Vietnamese martial arts tournaments were a meaningful activity to celebrate the 73rd anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day, and to continue the campaign "all people do exercise following Uncle Ho’s example”. It offered the athletes chances to exchange and improve the level in the competition, towards the 8th Sports Festival of Bac Ninh province in 2018.
The 8th Provincial Sports Festival will organize 14 competitions, including freestyle and traditional wrestling, athletics, chess, Chinese chess, table tennis, shuttlecock kicking, karate, traditional Vietnamese martial arts, football, volleyball, badminton, and tennis. So far, the Organizing Committee has successfully held 10 subjects and planned to continue the remaining four competitions (football, volleyball, badminton, and tennis) in mid-October.
