Online conference to review work of Industry and Trade in 2021
(BNP) - On January 9, Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh attended and directed an online conference to review the work of Industry and Trade in 2021 and deploy the work tasks in 2022.

In 2021, the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) of the Industry and Trade sector increased by 4.8% over the previous year; the total import and export turnover reached a record of $668.5 billion, up 22.6% over the previous year, bringing Vietnam into the group of 20 leading economies in terms of international trade. Vietnam achieved a $4-billion trade surplus… despite COVID-19 impacts.
In 2022, the Industry and Trade sector strives to increase IIP from 7 - 8% compared to 2021; total export turnover increases by 6-8%; total retail sales of consumer goods and services increases by 7-8%...
Speaking at the Conference, Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh praised and highly appreciated the efforts and outstanding achievements of the Industry and Trade sector in 2021, making an important contribution to the successful implementation of the tasks of socio-economic development of the country.
Deputy PM Thanh directed the trade sector to beef up exports, diversify export commodities and markets, and effectively solve problems in customs clearance to prevent shipment congestion at border gates, especially those between Vietnam and China.
He also called for more efforts to increase official quotas for exports to China and reduce dependence on cross-border trade with the northern neighbor country.
At Bac Ninh’s venue, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dao Quang Khai asked the Industry and Trade sector to absorb the direction of the Deputy Prime Minister and the Ministry of Industry and Trade; proactively deploy solutions to remove difficulties, support businesses, people and employees to ensure the restoration and stabilization of production and business activities in the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic.
