Ham Long Pagoda – the famously holy pagoda of Bac Ninh

Not far from Dam pagoda, Ham Long pagoda is a holy place that tourists cannot miss. It is located in the cultural – ecological complex of Dam mountain. This Buddha-worshipping structure following Mat Tong (Mi-Zong) style built during Ly dynasty in the 11st century.

The pagoda is located in the beautiful and mythical scene of Dam mountain slope which looks like a shape of a dragon mouth. The current structure covers a huge scale including Three Refuges or the Tiratana, ehe house of the preceding Lamas (senior or head Buddhism monks), the house of Gods, guesthouse, Vietnam’s school of Buddhism, a system of 14 ancient towers, and 4 ancient copper Buddhist statues made burring Nguyen dynasty: the statues of Shakyamuni Buddha (2.1m high), the statues of Ananda and Mahacassapa (1.86m), and the statue of Queen Maya (mother of the Buddha). Ham Long pagoda has long been known as the biggest ghost detention of Viet Nam – famous for its mystery and power in detaining ghosts so that they cannot catch the souls of other family members and bring them along to hell.

Annually, the pagoda’s festival, held in Lunar 14th of February, always attracts visitors near and far. The pagoda, today, become a religious site that tourists cannot miss once travelling to the cultural-ecological complex of Dam mountain.
