“Sticky rice and chicken festival” in Nghi Khuc quarter takes place
(BNP) - On March 13 (i.e. February 4 of the lunar calendar), the “Sticky rice and chicken festival” took place for the men from 49 to 50 years old at Phu Loc communal house, Nghi Khuc quarter, An Binh ward (Thuan Thanh town).
Ritual of offering rice wine at Phu Loc communal house.
Chicken and sticky rice is displayed at the communal house before entering to the contest.
The chickens are posed and hold flowers.
Chickens with beautiful posture and steady standing will be chosen.
The winning chicken will be placed on top.
The sticky rice is made from yellow flower sticky rice.
The winning sticky rice is rewarded with an areca nut and a betel leaf.
The winning chickens will be chopped on the spot to check for doneness.
The owners of the most beautiful sticky rice and chicken are given gifts and honored at the communal house.
