10th Phu Dong Health Festival 2024 in Bac Ninh province opens

Provincial leaders present flowers to congratulate the Festival.

Attending the Opening Ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the Provincial Delegation of National Assembly Deputies; Ms. Nguyen Huong Giang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Vuong Quoc Tuan, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and Head of the Provincial Steering Committee of Phu Dong Health Festival; representatives from the Ministry of Education and Training; members in the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent People's Council; leaders of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, and Delegation of National Assembly Deputies; leaders of departments, branches, sectors, unions, districts, towns and cities along with numerous officials, teachers, athletes and students throughout the province.

The opening ceremony of the Festival opened with a parade praising the forces and demonstrating the spirit of "Being healthy to study, work and build the Fatherland" of Bac Ninh school youth.

Following the parade, the traditional torch lighting of the Festival is lit from the Bac Ninh Temple of Literature then carried back and lit on the fire platform by Chairwoman Nguyen Huong Giang, which will burn throughout the Festival's proceedings, thereby, demonstrating the honest sports spirit and faith of Bac Ninh school youth in the Festival.

In his opening speech, Standing Vice Chairman Vuong Quoc Tuan emphasized that the Festival is a school sports festival for students to promote the campaign "All people exercise their bodies following the example of great Uncle Ho", thereby encouraging them to regularly participate in training and competing in sports to develop their stature, physical strength, study and practice well.

The Standing Vice Chairman also recognized and praised the efforts of members of the Festival’s Steering and Organizing Committees as well as leaders of agencies, units, localities, and schools in organizing sports activities within the framework of the Festival, creating the best conditions for athletes and students to participate in the Festival activities.

Tuan asked the athletes to compete with all their might for the common goal of sports "Faster, higher, farther". The referees uphold a sense of responsibility, control the matches to ensure objectivity and fairness, contributing to the overall success of the province's school sports festival, he added.

After the opening ceremonies, an art program was performed by students from secondary and high schools throughout the province.

At the Festival this year, more than 2,000 athletes competed in 09 provincial-level sports including: Chess, Shuttlecock, Push Stick, Football, Athletics, Badminton, Karate, Taekwondo, Swim. Bac Ninh province plans to participate in the Phu Dong Health Festival region II competition in Thai Nguyen province with 6/11 subjects and the national competition in Hai Phong with 8/15 subjects.

Immediately after the Opening Ceremony, the Primary Football Final match took place between two teams of the Department of Education and Training of Thuan Thanh town and the Department of Education and Training of Luong Tai district. In the final result, the team from the Department of Education and Training of Luong Tai district won with a score of 5-1.
