Chairman of Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tu Quynh meets with President of the World Smart Cities Association
(BNP) - In the afternoon of August 31st, Mr. Nguyen Tu Quynh, Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Provincial People's Committee met with Mr. Eduard Dumitrascu, President of the World Smart Cities Association, to discuss supporting and cooperative opportunities in building a model of the smart city of Bac Ninh province.

At the meeting, the President of the Smart Cities Association Eduard Dumitrascu spoke of his impression with the project of smart city model of Bac Ninh province which has been comprehensively formulated with a strategic vision. At the same time, the President Eduard Dumitrascu also affirmed that the smart city building is a long journey with a variety of steps, which are not only technologies but also many relevant issues, including four main pillars: the role of local government, enterprise providing technology solutions, the participation of universities and socio-political organizations.
Furthermore, Mr. Eduard Dumitrascu believed that thanks to the available conditions, Bac Ninh would be able to meet the needs of a smart city in accordance with international standards, and committed the World Smart Cities Association would actively support the province in terms of solutions of technology, environment, transportation, high-quality human resources training, and so on.
On behalf of the provincial leaders, Chairman of Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tu Quynh expressed his happiness receiving the President of the World Smart Cities Association to Bac Ninh. At the same time, Bac Ninh’s leader briefed on the geographic location and remarkable achievements of socio-economic development of the province in recent years. In spite of the smallest province in the country, Bac Ninh's economy is ranked 4th nationally; attracting more than 1,000 FDI enterprises with the total investment of USD 17 billion from 33 countries and territories. Bac Ninh is also known as the rich land of revolutionary and traditional culture, where thousands of cultural and historical relics are kept and preserved, especially Quan ho folk songs, which is recognized as a representative intangible cultural heritage of the humanity. Bac Ninh has now more than 10 universities located in the province although the province has not been a centrally run-city yet.
Bac Ninh is currently one of the first localities in the country, where takes the first steps in building a smart city model, especially building a smart city data center, Mr. Nguyen Tu Quynh said.
The Chairman delivered his gratitude to the Association's goodwill in assisting Bac Ninh to approach the criteria of the smart city and assigned functional departments to coordinate with the Association to deploy smart city building steps in accordance with the progress.
