1. Land resources

The province’s total natural land area is 822.7 km2, of which agriculture land accounts for 53.12%, , aquaculture land accounts for 6.16%, forestry land accounts for 0.75%, specialized and residential land accounts for 39.2%, unused land is 0.77%.

2. Water resources

Surface water resources in the province are about 34 billion 900 million m3 per year. The total amount of surface water exploited for production and daily life is about 479,220,000 m3/ year. Total underground water reserve of the province is about 255,248,150 m3 per year; The total current volume of exploitation is about 94,900,000 m3/year. Current status of discharge into water sources with an average discharge volume of about 113,150 m3 / year. The inter-provincial river system consists of 3 rivers: Cau River, Duong River, Thai Binh River. Internal rivers consist of 8 rivers including Ngu Huyen Khe, Ca Lo, Tao Khe, Dau, Dong Co-Ngu, Dong Khoi, Bui, Dai Quang Binh. About ponds, lakes and lagoons, there are nearly 15,000 ponds, lakes, and lagoons. The quality of surface water and underground water is ensured to meet the needs of daily life, production and irrigation in the province.

3. Forest resources

Bac Ninh’s forest is not large, mainly is planted forest. Total forest land area is about 661.26 hectares, mostly in Tien Du district (254.95 ha) and Que Vo district (317.9 ha). Bac Ninh’s vegetation is mainly annual trees, perennial plants and planted forest. Total estimated timber volume is 3,279 m³, of which, protection forest is 363 m³, special-use forest is 2,916 m³.

4. Mineral resources

Bac Ninh is poor in mineral resources, mainly construction materials such as clay for making brick and title, pottery with 4 million tons of volume in Que Vo and Tien Du districts, arenaceous rock with volume of about 1 million ton in Thi Cau ward, Bac Ninh city, sandstone in Vu Ninh with volume of about 300.000 m3. Besides, there is peat coal in Yen Phong district with volume of 60.000 – 200.000 tons.
