(BNP) - Tan An communal house, Tien An ward, Bac Ninh city was built a long time ago. During the Nguyen dynasty, under King Thanh Thai Ky Suu (1889), it was restored and embellished in the traditional architectural style. Tan An communal house worships the village's tutelary god, Duc Thanh Tam Giang.

Tan An communal house was built a long time ago and preserved by the people. Over time and war, the communal house was completely destroyed during the resistance war against the French. After peace was restored, with the tradition “when drinking water, remember its source”, the people together restored the communal house on its old foundation and land.

Tan An communal house is located in the middle of a residential area, the east is the street of the quarter, the south borders Tan An pagoda, the west and north border the residential area.

Currently, Tan An communal house has an architecture of Chinese “Nhi” letter including Front Ceremonial Hall and Emperor’s Harem. The 3-compartment Front Ceremonial Hall has a flat roof made of reinforced concrete, and the roof is built in a 2-storey style with 8 curved roofs. The Emperor’s Harem consists of 3 compartments.

The communal house still preserves many valuable antiques such as genealogies, ordinations, and worship objects. In particular, the genealogies and ordinations clearly show the background and achievements of the people worshiped at the relic.

These ancient documents are both historical evidence of the communal house and valuable cultural heritage of the local people.

In the past, Tan An communal house festival was held from February 13 to February 16 (lunar calendar). Of which, the 15th day was the main festival day. Nowadays, the communal house festival takes place on 2 days, February 15 and February 16 (lunar calendar).

Tan An communal house was ranked as a historical and cultural relic by the Provincial People's Committee in Decision No. 161/QD-UBND, dated February 8, 2002.
