Urging completion of new rural construction target in 2024
(BNP) - On October 23, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan chaired a national online conference to urge the completion of the new rural construction target in 2024.

Participants at Bac Ninh’s venue were leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; representatives from the Provincial People’s Committee Office and the Provincial New Rural Coordination Office.
As of October 20, 2024, the whole country had 6,320/8,162 communes (77.4%) approved by the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee to meet the new rural standards. Of these, 156 communes in Region III of ethnic minority and mountainous areas, 11 communes with special difficulties in coastal and island areas have met the new rural standards; 2,182 communes (34.6%) have met the advanced new rural standards and 480 communes (7.6%) have met the standards of new rural models.
296 district-level units in 58 provinces and centrally-run cities have been recognized by the Prime Minister as having completed the task of meeting the new rural standards, of which, 11 districts have been recognized by the Prime Minister as having met the advanced new rural standards. 22 provinces and centrally-run cities had 100% of their communes meeting the new rural standards, among which, 15 provinces and cities had 100% of their communes meeting the new rural standards and 100% of district-level units were recognized as having met the standards for completing the new rural tasks.
In addition, the country has more than 14,000 OCOP products rated 3 stars or more. Among those, 72.1% are 3-star products, 25.8% are 4-star products, and 2.1% are 5-star products and 5-star potential.
At the conference, leaders of ministries and sectors at the central and local levels analyzed the achieved results and difficulties as well as obstacles in the process of implementing new rural construction at the grassroots level, especially in mountainous and ethnic minority areas.
Concluding the conference, Minister Le Minh Hoan requested localities to strive to overcome difficulties, closely cooperate with ministries and branches to remove obstacles to achieve the highest targets in 2024. At the same time, they need to promote and diversify forms of communication on new rural areas and specialized programs through introducing good and creative practices in localities.
