(BNP) - On the morning of December 31st, the Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee held a meeting to commend and reward athletes who achieved outstanding results at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 33) and students who won prizes in the International Music Competition.

Attending the meeting Mr. Nguyen Hong Thai, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Pham Hoang Son, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Mai Son, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Nghiem Xuan Huong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council.
The 33rd SEA Games took place in Thailand from December 9-20. The Vietnamese sports delegation consisted of 841 athletes competing in 47 sports. Bac Ninh province participated with 15 athletes, competing in 12 key sports, winning 15 medals in total, including 7 gold medals, 3 silver medals, and 5 bronze medals. This is an outstanding achievement by Bac Ninh athletes, making a significant contribution to the overall success and affirming the position of Vietnamese sports in the Southeast Asian regional sports arena.

Notably, athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh won 3 gold medals in athletics in the 5,000m, 10,000m, and 3,000m steeplechase; athlete Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy won 1 gold medal in Wushu, women's 60kg Sanda; athlete Pham Tien San won 1 gold medal in Triathlon (three combined events), men's team Duathlon; athlete Do Ngoc Linh won 1 gold medal in women's freestyle wrestling, 50kg category... In addition, there were also athletes who won many silver and bronze medals in Boxing, Judo, Kickboxing, Jujitsu, ASEAN Chess, and Kayak.

In the 2025-2026 school year, Ngo Anh Tue, a student in class 12A1 at Yen Dung No. 2 High School, won a Silver Medal in the qualifying round of the International Music Competition held at the Vietnam National Academy of Music in 2025 and a Bronze Medal in the International Music Competition held in Hong Kong, China in 2025.

Speaking at the meeting, Secretary Nguyen Hong Thai congratulated, commended, and acknowledged the outstanding achievements that the athletes and artists have strived to attain, bringing pride and glory to Bac Ninh province and the nation. This is the result of persistent training, overcoming difficulties and hardships by each individual; the support and encouragement of family, the dedicated guidance of teachers and coaches, along with the attention and investment from all levels and sectors, and the joint efforts and support of the business community and sponsors. Mr. Nguyen Hong Thai respectfully thanked the businesses and sponsors for their continued interest and support in developing the province's sports and arts and culture.
He affirmed that the success of young athletes and artists is not only an honor for individuals but also a shared pride of Bac Ninh province. Therefore, Party committees, authorities, and relevant agencies should continue to pay attention to, listen to, and understand the legitimate aspirations of athletes, students, and artists; promptly provide appropriate support mechanisms and policies, creating favorable conditions for them to study, train, and develop their talents with peace of mind. He hoped that businesses, organizations, and individuals would continue to uphold their social responsibility and accompany sports and arts in Bac Ninh province. He urged young athletes, students, and artists to constantly strive, maintain their passion and willpower, and aim for even greater achievements, contributing to spreading the image of dynamic, talented, and culturally rich people of Bac Ninh to friends both domestically and internationally.
At the meeting, provincial leaders presented Certificates of Commendation from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and offered flowers to congratulate 12 athletes and students who achieved outstanding results. TASECO Group Joint Stock Company awarded a total of VND 500 million in prizes.
