DIVA Non-Governmental Organization (Korea) works in Bac Ninh province

(BNP) - On the afternoon of October 29, a delegation of the DIVA Non-Governmental Organization (Organization) (Korea) led by Mr. Kim Wan Yong, Representative Director in Vietnam worked in Bac Ninh province to discuss the orientation, programs and projects of the Organization in the coming time. Deputy Chief of the Provincial People's Committee Office Pham Duong Tuyen and representatives of the specialized departments of the Provincial People's Committee Office received and worked with the delegation.

Overview of the meeting.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Kim Wan Yong said that DIVA is a foreign Non-Governmental Organization operating in the fields of providing scholarships and teaching Korean, building houses for the poor, supporting medical supplies, clean water and environmental sanitation, and free medical examination and treatment with a scope of operation in Thai Nguyen, Bac Giang and Lang Son provinces.

Since 2015, DIVA has started to carry out support activities in Vietnam. In 2018, it was formally granted a Certificate of Operation by the Department of Foreign Affairs (Ministry of Foreign Affairs). Mr. Kim Wan Yong hoped to implement many clean water projects in Bac Ninh province.

The delegation carried out surveys in the communes of Xuan Cam, Hoang Van, and Hop Thinh as well as in the kindergartens of Xuan Cam (Xuan Cam commune), Ngoc Son (Hoang Van commune), and Mai Trung 2 (Hop Thinh commune) regarding the area of enhancing clean water and sanitation for schools in the province in order to carry out a number of DIVA Organization projects in the province.  In order for the initiatives to be practically implemented and benefit the people, the Organization wished that the province would give comprehensive information through meetings and documentation.

On behalf of the leaders of the Provincial People's Committee Office, Deputy Chief Pham Duong Tuyen expressed his pleasure to welcome Mr. Kim Wan Yong and the delegation members to visit and work. At the same time, he informed the delegation about some basic features of the socio-economic development situation of the new Bac Ninh province and some contents related to the activities of the Organization in Bac Ninh province.

The Deputy Chief also said that currently, there are about 30 organizations registered to operate in the province. Among them are many large projects sponsored by Korean non-governmental organizations in the province. Programs, projects, and assistance from Korean non-governmental organizations and businesses carried out in the province help to improve social security work, assisting beneficiaries like children, the elderly, and those in challenging situations in Bac Ninh province.

He suggested that the Organization continue to coordinate with relevant departments, branches and sectors of the province to implement projects. At the same time, the province would create favorable conditions for the Organization in implementing projects, ensuring efficiency and suitability to practical needs, he added.
