Ancestor altar house of Ngo family

(BNP) – Ancestor altar house of Ngo family (Noi village, Mao Dien commune, Thuan Thanh district), was built by the family in the Nguyen Dynasty (1834) to worship the ancestors in the Ngo and Vien Lang families.


The ancestor altar house has an architecture of Chinese “Nhat” letter.

The ancestor altar house is located in the center of Noi village, facing south. In front, the right side borders the village road, the other sides border the residential area.

The ancestor altar house of Ngo family includes the following works: the gate; the ancestor altar house, the reredos and other ancillary works.

The ancestor altar house has an architecture of Chinese “Nhat” letter with 3 compartments.


The column is decorated with 4 phoenix birds with their tails together.

Horizontal lacquered board (engraved with Chinese characters) is in the middle of the main altar.


Throne of worship.

At present, the ancestor altar house of Ngo family still preserves many artifacts such as: 02 Horizontal lacquered boards were made in the year of Quy Mui, under King Tu Duc's reign in 1883; 05 pairs of couplets, stele, 03 genealogy books, 3 ordinations awarded by kings in 1834, 1835, 1842...

The ancestor altar house of Ngo family was ranked as a historical and cultural relic by the Provincial People's Committee in Decision No. 1015/QD-UBND dated August 6, 2010.
