Meet Japan 2020

BNP – In the afternoon of November 25, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and other Japanese agencies jointly held “Meet Japan 2020” conference.

Attending the conference Member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam Yamada Takio.

Representatives for Bac Ninh province were Ms. Nguyen Huong Giang, Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Vuong Quoc Tuan, Member of Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee and leaders of relevant departments and sectors

Delivering the opening speech, Permanent Deputy Minister Bui Thanh Son informed that as Vietnam's leading important economic partner, Vietnam-Japan relationship is developing in various fields, especially in investment, trade, agriculture, labor, science and technology, and cultural exchange. Japan is the largest provider of ODA loans to Vietnam; the second largest investor with a total capital of more than USD 60.2 billion; the 4th largest trading partner with two-way trade turnover in 2019 of nearly USD 40 billion and the 3rd largest tourism partner of Vietnam.

He affirmed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, specifically its functional units and representative agencies in Japan, would actively support Vietnamese localities to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Japanese partners in the coming time.

At the conference, the parties focused on discussing the most outstanding cooperation contents including investment, trade, agriculture, digital transformation, smart cities, local cooperation, human resources cooperation, and education and training.

This is an important opportunity for the face – to – face exchange between 2 sides so as to share results of to be promoted and obstacles to be solved as well as specific and practical cooperation ideas in the coming time.
