Open Cao Lo Vuong Festival 2018

On April 25th (March 10th in Lunar calendar), Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, Fatherland Front Committee of Gia Binh district held an opening ceremony of traditional festival in celebration of 2,295th anniversary of General Cao Lo Vuong's birthday at Cao Lo Vuong Temple (in Lo village, Cao Duc commune).

Mr. Nguyen Nhan Chien, Member of Party Central Committee, Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Head of Provincial Delegation of National Assembly Members; Mrs. Nguyen Huong Giang, Chairwoman of Provincial People’s Council; Mr. Nguyen Tien Nhuong, Permanent Vice Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee attended the festival.

The annual festival was taken place within 2 days (March 9th, 10th in Lunar calendar) right on the occasion of Hung Kings’ Commemoration. The worshipping ceremony was commenced with a wide range of traditional rituals including Temple’s entrance-opening rite, statue-washing rite, and General’s tomb-visiting rite. The centerpiece of the festival was the procession of imperial palanquin starting from the village to shrine of General Cao Lo Vuong, and then taking his ancestral tablet back to the village to open the festival and conduct incense-offering ceremony.

Apart from traditional rituals and customs, the festival had many cultural, sport activities with useful and healthy contents to serve visitors, such as folk games (Chinese chess, blind man’s buff, traditional Vietnamese card game, tug of war,...); free style and traditional wrestling, singing exchange among villages at Temple yard; nursing exercise performance of 8 nursing clubs in Cao Duc commune.

This annual festival aims to honoring the beauty of traditional culture, revolutionary of Bac Ninh - Kinh Bac land, educating offspring to raise national pride, to remember the roots, to promote good traditions of the ancestors. Addition to these purposes, it is also to enhance the cultural and spiritual life of the people, to mobilize them to well carry out Party's undertakings and policies, State's law, to strengthen solidarity in community, therefore making a motivation to build cultural villages in accordance with standards of new countryside in new period.
