(BNP) - In the evening of June 9th, in the area of Nguyen Phi Lan Lake, Bac Ninh City, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with Provincial Television and Radio Station held a program of singing Quan ho folk songs on boats in June with the theme of “Tương phùng tương ngộ” (Wish to see other)

Attending and enjoying the program were Mr. Tran Duc Phan, Deputy General Director of the General Department of Sports (under Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism); Mr. Nguyen Dinh Thang, Chairman of Board of Directors of Lien Viet Post Bank and 16 teams joining U19 Asian Women Volleyball Championship 2018.

The performance of singing Quan ho folk songs on boats in June plays a practical role to celebrate the 70th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's Call for Patriotic Emulation (June 11th, 1948-2018) and the U19 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship - Lienvietpostbank Cup 2018 held in Bac Ninh, which is broadcasted live on Television and Radios Station of not only Bac Ninh but also 7 other provinces such as Dac Nong, Lam Dong, Tay Ninh, Ha Tinh, Son La, Lao Cai and some TV channels nationwide.
With the theme "Tương phùng tương ngộ" (Wish to see each other), the program was a meaningful and emotional reunion right in the heart of a young and friendly city. After the opening part with the traditional instrumental performance titled “Chung một niềm tin” (In a faith), “liền anh” (male singers) of Tho Ha village, Viet Yen district, Bac Giang province performed challenge-and-response singing session with “liền chị” (female singers) of Khuc Toai village, Bac Ninh city to start singing session.

Songs with very deep and sweet lyrics and melodies were introduced very smoothly, which touched visitors’ heart and drove them to such very special feeling that they were unwilling to leave the program. At the program, anyone who does not understand much about Quan ho folk songs could also feel and understand the unique values of this intangible cultural heritage.

Because of the love to smooth and sweet melodies of Bac Ninh’s Quan ho folk songs, many audiences from other provinces and cities also participated and enjoyed in the program, despite the long geographic distance, to have a chance to exchange with artists and learn about Quan ho’s culture through questions asked by the Organization Committee.
Like the previous programs of singing Quan ho folk songs on boats, relevant activities will be being held at 3.30 PM such as performance of Dong Ngu Water Puppetry; displaying, introducing costumes, items used in cultural activities of Quan ho; advertising Xuan Lai commune’s bamboo and rattan processing; exhibiting some typical and specialty products of localities; introducing tours, routes of Bac Ninh tourism and street art performances at the Ly Thai To statue area and on Nguyen Phi Ỷ Lan road.
