Total aquaculture output in first 9 months of year reaches more than 29,350 tons

(BNP) - According to the report from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the first 9 months of 2024, the total aquaculture output in the province was estimated at 29,356.9 tons, equaling to 103.5% over the same period in 2023.

Due to the impact of storm No. 3, 110 aquaculture cages of farmers in the province were damaged, with an estimated loss of 426.5 tons.

Since the beginning of the year, the 9-month river fish cage farming movement has continued to expand and develop with 2,793 cages, an increase of 164 cages compared to the same period in 2023. Up to now, 100% of the cages have intensively cultivated high-yield, high-quality, and easy-to-market fish varieties with an average yield of 4.5-5 tons/cage.

The province has produced more than 230 million broodfish of various kinds, equaling to 121% compared to the same period. The Agricultural industry has released more than 55,000 broodfish of various kinds to supplement and regenerate natural aquatic resources.

72 concentrated aquaculture areas were formed with an area of ​​1,305.9 hectares (each area is from 10 hectares or more), accounting for 22% of the aquaculture water surface area. Over 80% of the pond area used water spray fans, industrial feed and microbiological products in pond environment treatment, thereby, contributing to improving economic efficiency for people and striving for a total annual aquaculture output of 41,000 tons.
