15th anniversary of Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs being recognized by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage of humanity takes place

(BNP) – On November 23, the Provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Fatherland Front Committee solemnly held the ceremony to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs being recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity at Kinh Bac Cultural Center.

Participants at the ceremony were Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh, Member of the Party Central Committee (PCC), Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly (NA); Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Ms. Dao Hong Lan, Minister of Health; Mr. Hoang Trung Dung, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People’s Council, Head of the Delegation of NA Deputies of Ha Tinh province; Mr. Nguyen Van Gau, Secretary of the Bac Giang Provincial Party Committee.

For Bac Ninh province, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Member of the PCC, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee (PPC), Head of the Provincial Delegation of NA Deputies; Ms. Nguyen Huong Giang, Standing Deputy Secretary of the PPC, Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Council; Mr. Vuong Quoc Tuan, Alternate Member of the PCC, Deputy Secretary of the PPC, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; people of all walks of life in the province, domestic and international tourists attended the ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman Vuong Quoc Tuan emphasized that Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs have been recognized for 15 years. Over the past time, Bac Ninh province has issued many policies to preserve and promote the values ​​of the representative cultural heritage of humanity.

The province currently has 44 original Quan Ho villages, 150 Quan Ho practice villages, nearly 400 Quan Ho clubs, with the participation of tens of thousands of people from all ages. More than 600 of them are capable of teaching. Hundreds of Bac Ninh Quan Ho clubs have been established and maintained regular activities in both nationwide and abroad. It shows that Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs are becoming more and more famous and have a strong spread.

For her part, Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thanh commended and congratulated the great and comprehensive achievements that the Party Committee, authority and people of Bac Ninh province have achieved in socio-economic development in general, including the task of conserving and upholding the value of the representative cultural heritage of humanity - Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs.


Groups and individuals with outstanding achievements receive Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister and the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Thanh said that Bac Ninh province needs resources to invest in infrastructure, develop performance spaces, and expand the heritage practice environment so that artisans and Quan Ho folk song lovers have the opportunity to express and develop their talents.

After the ceremony, the delegates enjoyed a special art program with the theme “Bamboo and Apricot Reunion. The program strung together and told the audience a story with a variety of emotions about Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs, the close connection between Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs and typical folk songs of regions across the country such as Vi - Giam folk songs, and the Art of Don ca tai tu music and song.
