8th National Youth Fencing Championship in 2024 opens
(BNP) - On the evening of April 8, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Sports and Physical Training (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) jointly organized the opening ceremony of the 8th National Youth Fencing Championship in 2024.

Attending the program were leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Office of the Provincial People's Committee; the Department of Sports and Physical Training.
The tournament attracted 148 athletes from 8 provinces, cities and industries nationwide including: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Hai Duong, public security. Athletes compete in the sword, rapier and three-edged sword categories, competing for 21 sets of medals in two age groups under 17 years old and from 18 - 20 years old. In particular, for the under 17 year old group, athletes compete in 6 individual categories and 3 mixed categories; ages from 18 - 20 years old, athletes compete in both individual and team categories in the form of knockout competitions.
The Bac Ninh team has 23 athletes participating in all ages and categories; its goal is to win 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 4 Bronze Medals.
The tournament is an opportunity for young athletes to compete and gain experience in fencing. The tournament helps the Organizing Committee select and add excellent athletes to the National fencing team to participate in the upcoming SEA Games, Asiad and Olympics.
The matches of the tournament take place at the Provincial Multi-Purpose Stadium; the tournament will end on April 15, 2024.
On the first day of competition (April 8), the Bac Ninh team won 1 Gold and 1 Silver Medal.
