Delegation of Provincial People's Council works in Japan

(BNP) – From November 4 to 8, a delegation of Provincial People's Council led by Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, went to study and exchange to improve policy advisory capacity, local cooperation, people-to-people exchange, and strengthen connections with Bac Ninh people in Japan.

*During the 2 days of November 4-5, the delegation conducted a survey of the socio-economic facilities in the capital Tokyo and Fuji city, aiming to learn from experience and apply it in policy making, direction and management of the socio-economic development of Bac Ninh province.

*On November 6, the delegation worked with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) to discuss investment and trade promotion, and advertise the potential and strengths of Bac Ninh province to Japanese partners and businesses. Mr. Nakazawa Katsunori, Vice President of JETRO received and worked with the delegation.

JETRO is a Japanese government trade promotion organization established in 1958 to promote investment activities, increase Japanese firms' business abroad, and support foreign investment in Japan. JETRO currently has 76 representative offices in 57 countries worldwide. Its services span from financial advice to seminars and market surveys. In Vietnam, JETRO has offices in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman Nguyen Anh Tuan gave an overview of the location, potential, and socio-economic development of Bac Ninh province. At the same time, he said that in recent times, JETRO Hanoi has closely coordinated with Bac Ninh province to implement investment promotion activities in the province. JETRO Hanoi has regularly attended investment promotion events in Bac Ninh province, such as the Bac Ninh-Japan Meeting Program in 2023 and the conference on announcing planning and promoting investment in Bac Ninh province in 2024.

Tuan hoped that JETRO would be a bridge to promote and encourage Japanese enterprises to explore investment in Bac Ninh province, especially in the fields of: industry, high-tech agriculture; technology, digital transformation; smart cities; semiconductor materials, renewable energy; infrastructure, green economy, tourism... Bac Ninh province hoped to continue to cooperate closely and extensively with JETRO, is ready to welcome and create favorable conditions for Japanese enterprises to explore investment and business opportunities in the province and commits to continue to strongly improve the investment and business environment, creating the most favorable conditions for production and business activities and investment implementation in the province, Tuan added.

*On the same day, the delegation worked with the leaders of the Kanagawa Prefectural Council. Mr. Kondo Daisuke, Vice Chairman of the Kanagawa Prefectural Council received and worked with the delegation.

At the meeting, Vice Chairman Nguyen Anh Tuan stated that leaders from the two provinces have recently made several local visits, which has helped to improve collaboration in various fields. This visit by Bac Ninh province will be a significant step forward in further developing the two sides' cordial cooperation relationship.

The Vice Chairman hoped and suggested that Kanagawa Prefecture promote and encourage Japanese enterprises in general and Kanagawa Prefecture in particular to explore investment in Bac Ninh Province as well as support Bac Ninh Province in implementing information exchange activities and promoting unique cultural values, heritages, and famous tourist destinations to Kanagawa people. The two sides should strengthen the implementation of cultural exchange activities, youth exchanges, and delegation exchanges, Tuan said.

At the meeting, the two sides exchanged and shared experiences in Council work, government management, and investment cooperation.

*On November 7, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Anh Tuan and the delegation had a working session with the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan and met with typical Bac Ninh businessmen in Japan.

At the working session, Vice Chairman Tuan informed about the socio-economic situation, especially the situation of foreign investment attraction. Bac Ninh currently has 106 foreign direct investment projects from Japan with a total capital of USD 1.68 billion. Japanese enterprises focus mainly on the fields of electronic components manufacturing and mechanical engineering.

In the coming time, the Vice Chairman hoped and requested the Embassy to support, promote and encourage Japanese enterprises to explore investment in Bac Ninh province; support the province in implementing information exchange activities, promoting unique cultural values, heritages, and famous tourist destinations to the Japanese people, especially paying attention to promoting the craft of making Dong Ho folk paintings so that UNESCO can soon recognize it as an Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding.

At the meeting with typical Bac Ninh businessmen in Japan, the Vice Chairman hoped that Bac Ninh businessmen in Japan would make efforts to promote cooperation, exchange experiences, and create new business opportunities for Vietnamese enterprises in Japan; focus on preserving the Vietnamese language among the young generation of overseas Vietnamese, continue to deeply integrate into the local society, and contribute resources to the development of the homeland; introduce and promote the investment environment, connect Japanese investors as well as actively introduce the cultural identity of Bac Ninh - Kinh Bac and Bac Ninh folk songs to the community in Japan.
