Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism meets athletes participating in Tokyo 2020 Olympics

(BNP) - On August 26, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a meeting with boxer Nguyen Van Duong participating in the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

The Vietnamese Sports Delegation attended the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games (taking place from July 23 to August 8, 2021 in Tokyo, Japan) with 43 members, including 25 officials, coaches, experts and 18 athletes. Boxer Nguyen Van Duong of Bac Ninh province competed in Boxing at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 and entered the 1/8 round for 16 excellent athletes in the 52-57kg weight category, making a miracle after 33 years for Vietnamese Boxing.

At the meeting, leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism congratulated and praised boxer Nguyen Van Duong's achievements at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and hoped him would continue to train and find out the best ways to achieve high results at Seagame 31 and the National Sports Festival which will take place at the end of 2022.

The coaches at the Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center continue to pay attention and create the best conditions for boxer Nguyen Van Duong in the process of practicing, competing and achieving much success in important tournaments in the coming time, he added.

Boxer Nguyen Van Duong promised to do his best in the process of training and competing in domestic and international sports arenas in the near future as well as determined to bring glory to the Country and Bac Ninh homeland.
