Dong village communal house, Hoan Son commune

(BNP) – Dong village communal house (Hoan Son commune, Tien Du district) is located in the center of the village on a flat land. During the resistance war against the French, in 1949 the communal house was almost completely destroyed. After peace was restored, the local people built 3 more simple main halls made of xoan wood connected to the rear palace. In 1991, the main hall was restored and renovated into 5 rooms. In 2009, the local people built a new communal house in the traditional style.

According to the 1938 deed - the declaration is now housed at the relic - and local elders' accounts, the Dong village communal house worships the village's tutelary god, Ban Canh, as well as Nguyet Hang Son, the god of Ngoc Chau princess.

The Dai dinh (Main Hall) in the middle has a relief of "Two dragons facing the sun".

Currently, the communal house has an architecture including: Tien te (Front Ceremonial Hall), Dai dinh (Main Hall), and Hau Cung (Emperor’s Harem). It has an architecture of Chinese “Dinh” letter.

The traditional festival of Dong village communal house is held more compactly from the 7th to the 10th of January. During the festival days, parallel to the ceremony is the festival with many folk games such as: swinging, wrestling, human chess, duck catching... attracting a large number of people to participate.


 

Dong village communal house was ranked as a historical and cultural relic in Decision No. 14/QD-UBND, dated January 10, 2017.
