Continuing archaeological excavations in western area of Luy Lau Citadel relic
(BNP) - The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has just issued Decision on allowing the National Museum of History in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Ninh province and the University of East Asia, Japan to conduct archaeological excavations in the area of the Outer Wall, west of the Luy Lau Citadel relic, Thanh Khuong ward, Thuan Thanh town, Bac Ninh province.
Bronze drum mold fragments were found during a previous archaeological excavation.
Excavation time from March 25, 2025 to April 29, 2025, on an area of 100m2.
During archaeological excavation, the licensed agency must protect the relic's stratigraphy, disseminate information to the public about the protection of local cultural heritage, and refrain from announcing official conclusions without the approval of the competent agency and the Department of Cultural Heritage.
Bac Ninh province's Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism is in charge of preserving and maintaining artifacts collected during archaeological excavations to prevent damage or loss, as well as reporting to the Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism on a plan to protect and promote the value of those artifacts.
Following the completion of the archaeological excavation, the National Museum of History and Bac Ninh province's Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism must submit a preliminary report and a plan to manage and protect the archaeological excavation area to the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism within one month, and a scientific report within one year.
