Exchange and share experiences in mobilizing resources to care for and assist victims of Agent Orange

(BNP) – On the morning of September 10, the Provincial Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin held a conference to exchange experiences in mobilizing resources to care for and assist victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin in 2024.


Overview of the conference.

Attending the conference were leaders of the Provincial Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin, the Provincial Veterans Association, the Provincial Red Cross Association, and 150 delegates who were leaders of the Association of Victims for Agent Orange/Dioxin in districts, towns, cities and officials of the Association of Victims for Agent Orange/Dioxin at the commune level.

Currently, the province has more than 3,000 victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin receiving monthly allowances, of which 2,240 participated in resistance activities and 774 are children of resistance activists. Since its establishment, the Provincial Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin has advised the Party Committee and the authority to effectively implement the Party and the State's policies and guidelines on dealing with the consequences of toxic chemicals. It cared for and helped victims of Agent Orange; and implemented policies for resistance activists exposed to toxic chemicals and their children and grandchildren suffering from Agent Orange sequelae.

At the same time, the Association has also actively mobilized resources to help victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin and their families to overcome difficulties of illness and integrate into the community. Since 2018, the Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin at all levels in the province has mobilized over VND 10 billion, giving gifts and support to tens of thousands of victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin.

At the conference, delegates focused on exchanging, discussing and evaluating the performance of the district, town and city associations in the past time. At the same time, they exchanged and shared experiences in improving the activities of the Association; solutions to build and develop the Association's organizational system, innovate the content and methods of operation suitable to the new situation; solutions to improve the effectiveness of mobilizing resources to help victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin; difficulties and obstacles in the Association's practical activities and proposed solutions to overcome them...

The conference aims to improve the effectiveness of care and support for victims of Agent Orange/dioxin, and protect the legitimate rights and interests of victims of Agent Orange/dioxin. At the same time, it enhances the sense of responsibility of all levels, sectors, organizations, and enterprises in organizing campaigns, raising donations to support the fund for care, support, and encouragement for victims and their families to overcome difficulties and gradually overcome the consequences of toxic chemicals used by the US during the war in Vietnam.
