Launching Action Month for Gender Equality and Gender-based Violence Prevention in 2017

(BNP) – In the morning of September 13th, Provincial People’s Committee held Launching ceremony of Action Month for Gender Equality and Gender Violence Prevention in 2017 with the theme of “Joining hands to end violence against women and girls”.

Provincial leaders presented gifts to female students having difficult circumstances of Que Vo district.

Attending the launching ceremony were Vice Chairman of Provincial People’s Council Nguyen Hanh Chung; Mr. Nguyen Van Phong, Vice Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee, Head of Provincial Committee for the Advancement of Women; leader of Department of Gender Equality under Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs; representatives from departments, sectors and mass organizations; districts, town and city along with teachers and students in Que Vo district.
 
The Action Month for Gender Equality and Gender-based Violence Prevention in 2017 taken place from September 15th to November 15thwith the theme of “Joining hands to end violence against women and girls” focused on promoting Law on Gender Equality through mass media, banners and slogans and so on. At the same time, the province also organized activities to help women and girls who are victims of domestic violence, discrimination, gender discrimination… thereby, mobilizing strong participation of all agencies, organizations and all people in the community, especially men, in the implementation of national gender equality goals and realization of commitments in order to put an end to violence against women and girls in the province.
 
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Phong urged all levels, branches and localities to continue strengthening leadership and guidelines of the Party committees and authorities for gender equality and the advancement of women in the new situation; promoting gender-based education on mass media and organizing forums, seminars, workshops… on the theme of Action Month; implementing timely measures to support victims of violence, especially women and children in difficult circumstances; strengthening inspection and promptly detect and strictly handle violations in preventing and combating violence for women and girls.
