Mau Tuat Spring 2018 Quan Ho folk singing contest, Press Festival, Bonsai Festival open
(BNP) – At Kinh Bac Cultural Centre, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in association with the Provincial Journalists Association and the Provincial Bonsai Association on February 25th 2018 solemnly opened the Mau Tuat Spring 2018 Quan ho folk singing contest, Spring Press Festival, Bonsai Festival and honored intangible cultural heritage artisans.

The provincial leaders hand over the decision to honor the title of Artisan in the field of intangible cultural heritage.
Attending the Opening ceremony was Mr. Nguyen Nhan Chien, Secretary of Provincial Party Committee (PPC, Head of the Province’s National Assembly Delegation; Mr. Nguyen Huu Quat, Permanent Deputy Secretary of PPC; MR. Nguyen Tu Quynh, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Mrs. Nguyen Thi Ha, Deputy Secretary of PPC; Mrs. Nguyen Huong Giang, Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Council; members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Provincial Permanent People’s Council; Provincial People’s Committee; Provincial Fatherland Front; leaders of departments, branches and sectors; districts, town and city and a number of composers, actors, musicians, artisans and tourists.
The Quan ho folk singing contest this year attracted over 300 actors, musicians from districts, town and city with 53 items on Quan ho music stage and 49 pairs of male and female duet singers on Quan ho antiphonal singing stage. Within 2 days of the contest (February 25th and 26th), Quan ho artisans, male and female singers, amateur artists had chance to meet, interact, exchange, share experiences in preserving rules and essence values of Quan ho cultural activities. The contest is a unique and typical cultural beauty of Bac Ninh – Kinh Bac land which contributes to realizing of the commitment to UNESCO in preserving and promoting the Quan Ho Bac Ninh folk song heritage.

Provincial leaders visit the display of Press Festival 2018.
Particularly, at the opening ceremony this year's Spring Festival, a ceremony to honor 47 intangible cultural heritage artisans was held. The artisans honoured this time came from six traditional arts including 30 artists of Quan Ho (love duet singing); 06 artists of Tuồng (classical drama); 02 artists of Chèo (traditional opera); 04 artisans of Water Puppetry; 04 artists of Trống Quân singing (a response folk singing between male and female groups) and 01 artist of Ca Trù singing (ceremonial singing). This event affirmed that the artisans as living treasures who have a significant role in cultural heritage preservation.
2018 Mau Tuat Spring Press Festival was held in 2 days (February 25th and 26th 2018) and displayed and introduced more than 100 newspapers and magazines of the central press agencies, provincial and municipal Party newspapers of provinces, cities nationwide. Among which, Bac Ninh province with 25 units exhibiting press publications. Most of the publications and magazines were made in an attractive, animate form and rich, deep content, showing new press appearance of the country in general and Quan ho land in particular.

Bonsai exhibition attracts more than 20,000 bonsai.
Within 10 days of the contest (from February 25th to March 4th 2018), Bonsai contest this year attracted the participating of more than 57,000 products of bonsai, ornament wood, rock, landscape… This was an opportunity for tourists to enjoy and study Bac Ninh’s culture and people through the works on display at the contest, while creating a forum for artisans, members of Bonsai association inside and outside the province to exchange and share experiences to create valuable works, contributing to improving the quality of material and spiritual life in society.
