Comrade Nguyen Van Cu early grew alive to the ideals of revolution, then joined in the revolution activities when he was 15 years old and went for “proletarianize” in August of 1928. He led meetings and appealed to the mine workers for joining in the liberation revolution for classes and the nation.
In 1930, Comrade Nguyen Van Cu established Vietnam Communist Party Cell in Mao Khe mine – the first Party Cell of Vietnam in Quang Ninh mine land. In his leadership, many party cells in Quang Ninh province were alternately born. In 1938, when in mostly 26 year-olds, Comrade Nguyen Van Cu elected General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and became the youngest General Secretary in Vietnam Communist Party’s history.
Nguyen Van Cu, in all his life, especially period of serving as General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, contributed successfully for the revolution of the Party and nation. His book “self-censuring”, written and published in 1939, not only deeply assessed public-fighting-experiences of the Party, but also expressed principle in criticizing and self-censuring of the Party internal. This is a perfect theoretical book for building –party career. Unfortunately, in 1940, comrade Nguyen Van Cu was arrested by the French Colonist and executed in August 26, 1941.
In 29 years of life, 13 years in the Revolution, 7 years in the American Empire’s prison, 2 years working as the General Secretary of the Party, and his sacrifice, comrade Nguyen Van Cu’s devotion for the Party and nation were extremely great.
The Nguyen Van Cu’s memorial building was ranked as the history-culture relic at national level.
