Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh works with Korean businesses
(BNP) - In the afternoon of September 14, Prime Minister (PM) Pham Minh Chinh met with the Korean Ambassador, business associations and connected online with nearly 30 Korean businesses in Vietnam to remove difficulties and obstacles in production and business in the context of the Covid-19 epidemic.
Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee (PPC) Nguyen Huong Giang chaired the meeting at Bac Ninh’s venue.
Participants at Bac Ninh’s venue were Permanent Vice Chairman of the PPC Vuong Quoc Tuan; Vice Chairman of the PPC Dao Quang Khai; Vice Chairman of PPC Ngo Tan Phuong; leaders of relevant departments and sectors.
Speaking at the Conference, PM Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam and the Republic of Korea have promoted extensive and comprehensive cooperation in various fields in recent years. Korea is now the leading FDI capital in Vietnam, as of August 20, 2021, there are 9,159 projects with a total investment of more than USD 72 billion (accounting for 18.1% of total FDI capital).
Facing the impact of the Covid-19 outbreak, various solutions have been taken the effectiveness to help businesses in general and Korean businesses in Vietnam in particular in fighting against the Covid-19 epidemic as well as maintaining safe production and business.
Korean Ambassador to Vietnam Park Noh-wan, Chairman of the Korean Business Association in Vietnam and representatives from Korean businesses thanked the attention of the Vietnam’s Government, ministries, branches and localities of Vietnam for supporting and removing difficulties and obstacles of businesses in production and long-term and stable investment, especially in the complicated situation of the pandemic.
The businesses agreed with the statement that the prevention of the Covid-19 epidemic is unprecedented. Appropriate to the situation; Measures have been assessed to prevent and control the epidemic, to ensure the manufacture and circulation of goods by the Vietnamese Government, implemented by the Vietnamese Government, generally appropriate and in the right direction.
On the other hand, the businesses suggested that the implementation organization in localities should be more unified, flexible, efficient and orderly, and at the same time noted some difficulties and barriers in maintaining supply chains and transportation. And circulation of goods, safe production; work permits and admission for professionals; vaccination; tax policy preferences, fees…
In the spirit of openness, straightforwardness, accountability, efficiency and impartiality, the Prime Minister and heads of ministers, branches and localities directly answered and clarified many specific recommendations and proposals of businesses.
Delivering the speech at the conference, Pm Chinh asked ministries, branches and localities to continue to remove obstacles for businesses in general, and Korean businesses in Vietnam in particular to soon recover and develop production and business under the new normal situation.
He hoped the Korean Ambassador and the business community in Vietnam to continue to support and contribute to the promotion of the Vietnam – Korea strategic partnership for mutual benefit in all fields; soon achieve the goal of increasing bilateral trade turnover to 100 billion USD, keeping Korea as the leading investor in Vietnam; interested in increasing the rate of localization of Korean products made in Vietnam, promoting the improvement of the skills of workers and training of high-quality human resources in Vietnam.
He also thanked the Korean Government and people for assisting Vietnam in the fight against COVID-19, and hailed Korean firms for joining hands with Vietnam in actively combating the pandemic and continuing to do long-term business in the country.
