Standing Vice Chairman Vuong Quoc Tuan attends Conference entitled "Meet Japan 2023"
(BNP) - In the morning of November 2, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam and the Organizing Committee of the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations jointly organized a conference entitled "Meet Japan 2023" in Hanoi.

Attending the conference were Mr. Bui Thanh Son, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Yamada Takio, Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam; leaders of a number of ministries, sectors and localities and representative from businesses and Japanese Business Association in Vietnam.
Bac Ninh participants at the conference were Mr. Vuong Quoc Tuan, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of a number of relevant departments and sectors.
Speaking at the Conference, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son emphasized that Vietnam was honored to be the destination of Japanese Prime Ministers’ first international tours after taking office. At the same time, the economic, trade and investment cooperation were bright spots in the two countries' relationship. Japan has always been Vietnam’s leading partner, ranking first in terms of the supply of official development assistance (ODA), second in labor, third in investment and tourism, and fourth in trade, he said.
Son affirmed that he would continue to accompany and support Vietnamese localities to strengthen the connection and expand friendly exchanges and cooperation with Japanese partners in a variety of forms. At the same time, he hoped that the Conference would be an opportunity for leaders of Japanese representative agencies and business community in Vietnam to exchange, research and promote potential fields of cooperation with leaders and representatives from all provinces, cities and businesses of Vietnam.
For his part, Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Yamada Takio stressed that 2023 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Vietnam. He hoped that Japanese localities and Vietnamese provinces and cities would continue to exchange and promote more strongly. The Conference would be an important step in bringing exchanges between localities of the two countries to a new stage, Yamada Takio added.
In Bac Ninh, there are 103 projects having Japanese investment capital with a total investment capital after adjustment, capital contribution to buy shares and buy contributed capital of over USD 1.68 billion, accounting for about 6.9% of the province’s total investment capital, ranking 3 out of 39 countries and territories investing in the province. Canon; Nitto; Foster; Fujikin... are examples of typical Japanese-invested projects.
Currently, Bac Ninh province has not signed a cooperation agreement with any Japanese locality. However, the province has carried out many exchange activities with local partners, typically: organization of Cherry Blossom Festival; Investment promotion conference with Japanese businesses; the reception of cherry blossom trees to plant at several locations in the province... In addition, the province also promoted many exchange and cooperation activities with Kanagawa prefecture.
In the coming time, Bac Ninh province will focus on promoting bilateral cooperation with Japanese partners; promote cooperation in the fields of mutual interest as well as investment promotion for Japanese businesses interested in researching investment opportunities and environment in the province...
The Conference had 03 discussion sessions on the following topics: Strengthening trade and investment; Education, training and human resource cooperation; Cooperation in developing culture and tourism. At the same time, the ribbon cutting ceremony to open the booth displaying typical products of Vietnam - Japan took place.
