Trang Chay Temple relic, Phu Chan ward
(BNP) - Located in the middle of Doi Soc quarter, Phu Chan ward, Tu Son city, the temple of Trang Nguyen (first doctoral candidate) Xuan Chinh (also known as Trang Chay) was built in 1631. After the Trang passed away, his family renovated, embellished, and preserved it for many generations, becoming a place to educate the tradition of studiousness and academic achievement for the descendants of the family and local people.
The first doctoral candidate Nguyen Xuan Chinh (1588-1676) passed the three exams at the age of 50 including Huong, Hoi and Dinh (first place) in Dinh Suu (1637) under King Le Than Tong. He served as an official with the position of Left Minister of the Ministry of Personnel. After his death, he was awarded the title of Minister of Personnel, with the title of Dao Ngan Marquis. People often called him Trang Chay, because he was born in the ancient village of Chay (now Phu Chan ward, Tu Son city).

Currently, the temple is built on a 309m2 campus, including the Front Ceremonial Hall and the Emperor’s Harem.
Front Ceremonial Hall has 1 compartment, 2 lean-stones, 4 curved roofs.
Emperor’s Harem has 3 compartments.
Currently, the temple still preserves a genealogy book, horizontal lacquered boards, and parallel sentences from the Nguyen Dynasty.
Especially, 01 tetrahedral stone stele erected during the Le Dynasty, year Chinh Hoa 17 (1696).
And 2 stone steles from the Nguyen Dynasty clearly record the achievements of the first doctoral candidate Nguyen Xuan Chinh and the genealogy of generations of the Nguyen Xuan family in the locality.
In the temple grounds, there is also a stele in memory of the Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and the local heroic martyrs of the Nguyen Xuan family.

The tomb of the first doctoral candidate Nguyen Xuan Chinh is located in the middle of a field at the end of Doi Soc neighborhood.
The 30th day of the first lunar month is the death anniversary of the first doctoral candidate and also the death anniversary of the family. Every year on the 9th day of the 5th lunar month, at the temple, the Nguyen Xuan family organizes an award ceremony for their children who have achieved academic success. The temple and tomb of the first doctoral candidate Nguyen Xuan Chinh are ranked as provincial-level historical and cultural relics according to Decision No. 165/CT, dated February 24, 1998.
