(BNP) - On the morning of March 13th, Mr. Pham Van Thinh, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and Head of the Provincial Delegation of National Assembly Deputies chaired a working session on promoting the export of lychees from the province to the Japanese market in 2026 with relevant agencies, units, businesses, and distribution channels.

 The delegates attend the meeting.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, in 2026, the province will produce 29,800 hectares of lychee, including 8,200 hectares of early-season lychee and 21,600 hectares of main-season lychee. According to VietGAP guidelines, lychee production will cover 17,500 hectares and yield around 125,000 tons per year. Lychee production to Global G.A.P standards will total 255 hectares, with a yield of around 2,500 tons per year.

Early-ripening lychee types are beginning to blossom and set young fruit as of March 12, 2026, with a flowering rate of over 60%. Main-season lychees are also in bloom, with a blooming rate of around 50%. The estimated production is roughly 100,000 tons (50% of the 2025 yield); the lychee harvest in 2026 is projected to take place between May 20 and July 20, 2026.

During the discussion, officials from Ban Mai Trading and Service Co., Ltd., as well as agricultural specialists and Japanese partners, asked the province to continue assisting the company with its export process. The company also proposed microbiological solutions for maintaining product quality, removing stem borers, and preventing mold on lychee fruit. They also asked the government for assistance in connecting the company with cooperatives for technology transfer, training in production, harvesting, processing, and packaging processes, and improved production process monitoring.

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman Pham Van Thinh emphasized that ensuring stable outlets for lychee products is always a matter of special concern for the province. The province's lychees have been protected by geographical indication, are known for their delicious flavor, and are being developed towards clean, natural agriculture. Vietnam in general, and Bac Ninh in particular, always consider Japan a key and priority partner in international trade cooperation and socio-economic development. Currently, there are many Japanese businesses operating in the province.
