Bac Ninh harvests seasonal rice nearly 80% of area

(BNP) - According to Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, as of October 22, Bac Ninh has harvested nearly 25,000 ha of seasonal rice, reaching 78.9% of total area, the initial estimated productivity was 62.4 quintals/ha (an increase of 2.5 quintals/ha compared to the crop in 2019).

In the crop of 2020, the province planted more than 31,000 hectares of rice, reaching 98.7% of the planned area. Among which, high-yield and high-quality rice accounts for 65.2% of the total area, with key varieties such as: BC15, Thien uu 8, Bac Fragrant 7, TBR225, Dai Fragrant 8, and sticky rice of all kinds. Besides, the Agriculture sector and localities instructed farmers to fully prepare seeds, materials, fertilizers, and cultivate the right season to expand areas of high-yield rice; build new rice varieties; organize training courses on cultivating techniques, care for… Districts’ seasonal rice reaches high yield such as Que Vo (64.5 quintals/ha); Tien Du (64.1 quintal/ha); Gia Binh, Yen Phong (64 quintals/ha) ...

Taking advantage of dry weather, farmers are also concentrating on making soil and planting winter crops in the seasonal frame. The planting season for winter crops is concentrated from mid-October to November 2020. As of October 22, the province has planted more than 2,000 winter crops (nearly 30% of the plan), among which mainly areas are corn, carrots, squash, onions, garlic and green vegetables. According to the plan, the province strives to cultivate 7,000 hectares of crops in the winter crop in 2020.
