Bac Ninh Provincial Karate Championship Open kicks off

The tournament attracted more than 300 athletes to compete in the open tournament and the province-wide tournament.

The open tournament has the participation of 13 provinces, cities and sectors nationwide. Athletes compete in the women’s individual Kumite with 4 weight categories (53kg, 59kg, over 59kg and over 65kg) and the men’s individual Kumite with 6 weight categories (55kg, 56kg, 61kg, 62kg, 67kg, over 67kg and over 70kg).

The contents of the province-wide tournament attracts 9 units in the province (8 districts, towns, cities and the Provincial Youth Activity Center), participating in Kata (performance) and men’s and women’s individual Kumite by age, from 12-14; 15-17; 18-23. Men's and women’s individual Kumite competes in 7 weight categories according to age.

The tournament's contents take place at the Provincial Multi-Purpose Stadium until September 23.

The tournament is held annually to test and evaluate the technical and tactical levels of athletes in provinces, cities, and sectors, as well as to widely promote the movement of practicing and competing in martial arts in the province; creating the groundwork for the development of high-performance sports for Karate in the province in the coming years.
