Cultural and historical relic - Lien Ha communal house

(BNP) – According to the local elderly, Lien Ha communal house, Dai Xuan ward, Que Vo town was erected long time ago. Through the artifacts preserved at the relic, the communal house was built in Le Trung Hung period.


Overview of Lien Ha communal house.

Lien Ha communal house has an area of more than 500m2, located in the center of Lien Ha hamlet, on a large and beautiful land, in front of it is a cultural house, a warehouse yard and a kindergarten, it is surrounded by a residential area. Currently, Lien Ha communal house includes “Đại đình” (Great Communal Hall) and “Hậu cung” (Emperor’s Harem).


The rooftop of Dai dinh is covered with dragons to worship the moon.

Among which, the Dai dinh has a scale of 3 compartments and 2 wings, 4 curved roofs architecture, the rooftop is covered with dragons to worship the moon. The Dai dinh’s frame is linked with 6 rows of vertical columns and 4 rows of horizontal ones, including 4 main sets, using reinforced concrete.


The temple to worship Saint Tam Giang.

The Hau cung has a scale of 2 compartments, its frame consists of 2 rows of vertical columns and 3 rows of horizontal ones, including 3 main sets, using reinforced concrete.


Hau cung is the place to put the memorial tablet of Saint Tam Giang.

Lien Ha communal house worships Saint Tam Giang (Truong Hong and Truong Hat) who was instrumental in defeating Luong invaders in the 6th century; in addition, it worships Lord Lang Bo and Lord Nguyen Khong Thong Dat who were instrumental in killing tigers to protect the people.


The communal house preserves numerous typical artifacts.

The village tutelary is the supreme deity of the village, so Lien Ha residents must abstain from using the words: Nhan, Hong, Hat, Bo. Their names are abstained from being mentioned, newborn babies are not allowed to be named after the village tutelary. This actions show the respect of Lien Ha residents to the village's god.


The wooden structure is delicately carved.

Despite experiencing ups and downs in history, the communal house still preserves numerous precious documents and artifacts with typically historical, cultural and scientific values, including: 2 incense bowls of the Le Dynasty; 1 “sắc phong” (ordination) in 1924; 3 gongs, 1 throne, memorial tablet, 1 “mâm bồng” (platter) of the Nguyen Dynasty; 1 “hoành phi” (horizontal lacquered board) in 1930, 1 set of “bát biểu” (eight weapons), 1 altar, 1 pair of “câu đối” (couplets) dating from the 21st century.

Lien Ha communal house is a cultural and religious work built long time ago, worshipping people with meritorious services to the people and the country. The communal house is a place of cultural and religious activities of the residents; it is also the place to connect the neighboring friendship and promote the good customs and traditions of the country.

Lien Ha communal house was recognized as a provincial cultural and historical relic in Decision no. 127/QD-UBND, dated February 9, 2015.
