IIP in March increases by 31.3% over the previous month

(BNP) - According to the Statistics Bureau, the index of industrial production (IIP) in March increased by 31.3% over the previous month but decreased by 17.8% over the same period last year.

In the manufacturing and processing industry, only one sector with a reduction index was producing other means of transport (-3.6%) in comparison with the previous month. Meanwhile, the remaining 19 industries all achieved double-digit growth, in particular, the lowest level was the production of beds, wardrobes, tables, and chairs (+13.4%) and the highest was the manufacturing of medicines, pharmaceutical chemicals and medicinal materials (+64.1%).

Compared to the same month last year, 14 industries with an increase of 2-23.6%, but 5 industries with decreasing index, especially the electronic product and computers manufacturing (-20.7%), has a major impact on the overall industry index.

In the first 3 months of the year, IIP decreased by 13.6%. In the processing and manufacturing industry, there are 12 of 20 sectors with decreasing indexes such as the production of wood, bamboo; manufacturing chemicals and chemical products; producing products from non-metallic minerals; metal products; furniture and electronic product manufacturing.
