Implementing Month of Action for Gender Equality and Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence in 2024

(BNP) – The Provincial People's Committee has just signed and issued a Plan on implementing the Month of Action for Gender Equality and Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence in 2024.

The plan aims to enhance the role, responsibility and effectiveness in the work of coordination at all levels and sectors from the provincial to grassroots levels, thereby mobilizing the combined strength of the entire political system and the population to participate in implementing gender equality and preventing and responding to gender-based violence, empowering women and girls, and ensuring social security for the goal of sustainable development.

With the theme: "Ensuring social security, empowering and creating opportunities for women and girls to achieve gender equality and eliminate gender-based violence", the Month of Action for Gender Equality and Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence in 2024 was launched and implemented from November 15 to December 15, 2024.

The Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs shall preside over and coordinate with relevant departments, sectors and localities to implement the Plan; advise the Provincial People's Committee to organize activities of the 2024 Action Month; work with mass media agencies to strengthen propaganda and dissemination of the Party's guidelines, policies and laws of the State on gender equality, especially prevention of violence and abuse against women and children; propagate slogans and messages of the Action Month and activities in the Action Month in many diverse and rich forms.

Departments, branches, sectors and localities continue to integrate gender equality into the Programs and Plans of the sector, improve the effectiveness of the health network from the provincial to the grassroots level to meet the health care needs of the people, especially women and children; strengthen communication work to contribute to raising people's awareness of reproductive health, increasing the rate of women accessing health care services related to pregnancy and reducing gender imbalance at birth; deploy and replicate models of preventing and combating domestic violence; take the lead in coordinating with relevant sectors to strengthen inspection, examination and strict handling of violations of the Law on Prevention and Combating Domestic Violence.

Functional units continue to implement solutions to ensure a safe, healthy, friendly educational environment, prevent and combat school violence in public and private educational institutions under their management; strengthen training and teaching of gender, sexual education, reproductive health, and gender equality for teachers and students as well as boost inspection and examination of school order and discipline, and strictly handle cases of violence and physical and mental abuse against children.
