ITF Asia U14 Tennis Championship opens

(BNP) - On the evening of January 7, 2024, the opening ceremony of the U14 ITF Asia Tennis Championship (South Asia, East Asia and Southeast Asia Regional Qualification Development) took place at the Hanaka Paris Ocean Park Tennis Court Complex (Tu Son city).

Attending the opening ceremony were Ms. Nguyen Huong Giang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Vuong Quoc Tuan, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Phung Duc Chien, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of Provincial Party Committee's Organization Commission; Mr. Nguyen Hong Son, Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Tennis Federation, Head of the Tournament Organizing Committee; leaders of a number of departments, sectors, Tu Son city and representatives from sponsoring units.

The tournament takes place from January 8 - 18, 2024 at the Hanaka Paris Ocean Park Tennis Court Complex. It brings together nearly 40 athletes and coaches from 7 countries: Bhutan, Maldives, SriLanka, Mongolia, Cambodia, Brunei and host Vietnam.

Among them, the Vietnamese team has the participation of young players such as: Le Tien Anh; Vu Tuan Phong; To Binh Nhien; Huynh Ngoc Khanh; Nguyen Ngoc Dong Nhi…

Athletes compete in 4 categories including men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, and women's doubles in 2 phases. In particular, phase 1 will take place from January 8 – 12 and phase 2 from January 14 - 18. The finals and closing ceremony are expected to take place on January 18, 2024.

The 02 countries with the best results in the tournament will qualify to attend the U14 Finals of the International Development Tennis Tournament in India from April 8 - 17, 2024.

The tournament aims to help young Vietnamese tennis players gain experience and improve their scores on the International Tennis Federation (ITF) rankings. At the same time, this is also an opportunity to introduce and promote the image of rich culture, tourism and friendly and hospitable people of Bac Ninh province to a large number of domestic and international friends and tourists.
