Thien Thu Pagoda

(BNP) – Bao Thap Pagoda (also known as Thien Thu Tu), Bao Thap Village, Dong Cuu Commune, Gia Binh District was formerly the home of the poinsettia family Le Van Thinh. After he was exiled, this place was "hoa gia vi tu" and became the center of Buddhist worship of the villagers.

Experiencing ups and downs in history, the pagoda was interested in restoration, especially in the Nguyen Dynasty, during the reign of King Bao Dai 14 (1939) the pagoda was greatly renovated. By 2015, the pagoda was invested to repair all items of the Tam Bao (three treasures), the Ancestral Worshipping House, and the Mother Worshipping House.


 

The pagoda is located in the south, in the territory of Chua hamlet, to the right of the pagoda is the temple of Poinsettia Le Van Thinh. The pagoda consists of the main buildings: Tam Bao, Ancestral Worshipping House, and the Mother Worshipping House, Trai Duong house.

Tam Bao has an architecture of Chinese “Dinh” letter, including Tien Duong and Thuong Dien.

The pagoda still preserves many artifacts such as: bronze drum "Thien Thu Tu Chung" cast in 1835; 3 stele "Thai Thu Su Tu Bi Ky" engraved in 1612, "Hau phat bi ky" erected in 1771. 1836; 17 statues of the Nguyen Dynasty, a phoenix, a couple of parallel sentences…

The pagoda festival is held together with the temple festival on the 10th day of the second lunar month.

The pagoda has been ranked as a provincial-level historical-cultural relic in Decision No. 61/QD-UBND dated January 15, 2009.
