32nd Diplomatic Conference opens
(BNP) - On December 19, the 32nd Diplomatic Conference with the theme "Promoting the pioneering role, building a comprehensive, modern and strong diplomacy, successfully implementing the Resolution of the 13th Party Congress" was officially held in Hanoi. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong attended and gave a comprehensive speech at the conference.

Attending the conference were Members of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Members of the Party Central Committee, leaders of Central departments, ministries, branches, agencies, and Heads of Vietnamese representative agencies abroad as well as numerous public servants and employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
At Bac Ninh’s venue, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Quoc Chung; Alternate member of the Party Central Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vuong Quoc Tuan attended the conference.
Speaking at the conference, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son said that since the National Foreign Affairs Conference until now, the diplomatic sector at all levels and branches have successfully organized 45 visits made by Vietnamese key leaders to neighboring countries, important partners, traditional friends and welcomed nearly 50 visits by leaders of countries to Vietnam.
Those visits have created new qualitative developments in the country's foreign affairs and international integration. Vietnam’s relationships with many important partners have been elevated to new heights, political trust with many countries has been firmly consolidated, and cooperation has been increasingly expanded substantively and effectively, he stressed.
Son affirmed that the 32nd Diplomatic Conference would thoroughly discuss and evaluate the results of implementing foreign affairs and diplomacy in the first half of the 13th term.
Addressing the 32nd Diplomatic Conference, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong elaborated on the principles of national independence and socialism, and stressed that policies and strategies should be adjusted flexibly, noting Vietnam stands ready to be a friend, and a reliable and responsible partner of all countries.
Trong expressed his belief that Vietnam’s diplomatic sector will further grow in a modern and comprehensive manner, adhering to the "bamboo diplomacy" concept, and carry forward its pioneer role in national construction and defense.
Relevant institutions and policies need to be perfected, and mechanisms to combine Party diplomacy, State diplomacy and people-to-people diplomacy with diplomatic activities across spheres reformed and perfected in order to create synergy, promote dynamism and innovation, and raise the efficiency of external relations, he said.
The conference will last until December 23, 2023.
Immediately after the conference, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Quoc Chung requested departments, branches and localities to apprehend the instructions of General Secretary Nguyen Phuc Trong. At the same time, he suggested that in the coming time, agencies and units closely follow the Resolution of the 13th Party Congress and the Resolution of the 20th Provincial Party Congress on foreign affairs. The functional agencies need to strengthen foreign affairs with countries such as Japan, Korea, China, etc., and promote investment in many fields and cultural diplomacy as well as people-to-people diplomacy, while still preserving the cultural identity of Bac Ninh - Kinh Bac people.
