Bac Ninh province holds meeting to discuss implementation of “Program to build smart medical city and province”

Overview of the meeting.

According to the proposal of AstraZeneca Vietnam Co., Ltd., the “Program to build a smart health city and province” will be implemented in Bac Ninh province in 2025-2026. The main activities of the program will aim to develop grassroots health capacity to optimize health education, prevention, early detection, diagnosis and treatment, and effectively manage non-communicable diseases in the community; prioritize the application of advanced solutions and technologies such as digital transformation, artificial intelligence; conduct health economic analysis to assess the potential benefits/positive impacts of the program for the health sector and the environment.

For the program to be implemented effectively, the implementing units will establish a Program Implementation Cooperation Group; establish and develop a network of innovation in the health sector of Bac Ninh province; deploy key activities; build a database of practical applications of digital transformation advances as a basis for evaluating the effectiveness and benefits of the program; analyze the overall results and experiences gained from the program, thereby, building programs and models for the health sector development for localities across the country in the future.

In addition to related cooperation, consulting and support activities, AstraZeneca Vietnam will also provide medical solutions in the field of prevention and control of non-communicable diseases such as: chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, lung cancer, diabetes, chronic kidney disease; organizes program launching ceremonies, seminars, capacity building training for primary health care workers and level 3 hospitals, knowledge dissemination activities, and fundraising for the program.

At the meeting, delegates focused on assessing the current status of the health system and grassroots health care in the province; the current status of information technology application, digital transformation in the health sector and management of non-communicable diseases in the province. The leaders of the Department of Health proposed that in the immediate future, AstraZeneca Vietnam would survey and deploy support in the management and treatment of lung diseases in Bac Ninh city with about 1,000 patients being managed and treated as outpatients at the Provincial General Hospital, the City Medical Center and the Provincial Lung Hospital, etc.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman Le Xuan Loi welcomed AstraZeneca Vietnam Co., Ltd. to implement the “Program to build a smart medical city and province” in Bac Ninh province. At the same time, he sincerely thanked AstraZeneca Vietnam for its support, especially the support of vaccines for the province in the recent fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
